TAMPA, FL - Jupiter Electric Bike proudly announces its support for the reintroduction of the E-BIKE Bill in Congress, which seeks to support the use of electric bicycles as a means of transportation that is beneficial both for consumers and the environment.
The bill, known as the Electric Bicycle Incentive Kickstart for the Environment (E-BIKE) Act, was re-introduced last week by representatives Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) and Earl Blumenauer (D-OR). It aims to incentivize the purchase of electric bicycles by providing a tax credit of 30% of the purchase price up to $1,500 for qualified buyers. To qualify, the e-bike would need an MSRP of less than $8,000.
The E-BIKE ACT was first proposed in 2021 but was eventually rolled into legislation included in the Inflation Reduction Act with the provision for electric bikes removed in order to get the bill passed. While federal efforts stalled at the time, many smaller entities began rolling out incentives at the local and state levels proving great success with the city of Denver, Colorado leading the way.
